Recipe: Dining In Cookbook‘s Decidedly Not Sweet Granola and Slighty Sweet Granola
If you don’t have Dining In, have no fear! Here’s a similar Savory Granola recipe from Bon Appetit that looks great, and here’s a substitute for a Slightly Sweet Version from the NYTimes
Making granola is always kind of a pain in the ass. It requires so many ingredients, and the first time I made it, it was all crumbly and not crunchy and piece-y so I stayed away from it for a long time.
But then… Dining In came into my life with two granola recipes. First I made the Slightly Sweet Granola and I loved it. Then I made the Decidedly Not Sweet Granola and it was… odd. I wasn’t used to savory granola and I wrote it off at first – I mean, yes, I was going to eat it, I’m a bearcat after all, but it was going to be a “this is good for me, just finish it” kind of thing.
But as the week went on and I ate it with yogurt and (a decent amount of) honey, it really started to grow on me. Also, hot tip from my sister – it’s apparently delicious with avocado.
So, I think I will be making this again.
Update (11/24/2019): We’ve continued to make this and have started to really love it. It’s much easier to do once you have all the ingredients, and you can just throw them all into a bowl and pop it in the oven. It’s also just amazing to have on hand to grab breakfast on-the-go.
