Recipe: Nothing Fancy Cookbook

Review: It was a very light December over here on Jane & Zak but we’re getting back to the normal routine, starting with a nice dinner for this past Sunday. While we were trying to figure out what to make – we naturally turned to our BRAND NEW Alison Roman Cookbook, Nothing Fancy. We realize this came out a few months ago, but Jane was really holding out for Christmas. So it’s new for us!
Anyway, we decided on the Spicy Pork Meatballs in Brothy Tomatoes & Toasted Fennel recipe, and paired it with another Nothing Fancy recipe, Escarole with Mustard and Spicy Guanciale Bread Crumbs. Damn these recipes are a mouthful (literally! ha!)
The recipes were also great. I (Jane) ended up overcooking the meatballs a little because I tried to get them browned all over, and did 3 turns in the pan. Think I should’ve just cranked the heat a bit and only browned on two sides. Oh well – next time!
